Welcome

Theory, practical training and testing will

be provided on all makes and models for

all manufacturers on the following

equipment:

Counter Balance Forklift and Clamp, electric, propane or diesel on either standup or sit down models Reach Truck (including double deep) Turret Stock Picker & Swing Reach Truck, man up or man down Man Up Order Picker Ariel Work Platform - Genie Boom & Sky Jack, electric, gasoline, or propane Pallet Trucks - including End Rider, Centre Rider, Walkie & Pump Trucks - standup or sit down models Tow Tractors Fall Arrest Train the Trainer Propane Cylinder Exchange & Handling Develop Safety Procedures to assist with Accident Prevention Recertification Training - OHSA recertification is required every 24 month
Course Outline & Training Objectives Applicable Legislation Students will be instructed on the applicable sections fo the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and the Industrial Regulations that apply to the operation of power equipment in the work place. Features of the Power Equipment This section will include instruction of the power equipment design, features and manufacturing specifications. Hazards in the Workplace In this section there will be discussion about dangerous operation of equipment and dangerous conditions in the workplace.

Power Equipment Operation

Students will learn how to perform a Pre-Use inspection including Key

On/ Key Off inspection.  How to start, stop, turn and properly park

equipment.  How to travel forward and backwards on level ground and on

inclines, and how to operate equipment around employees and other

equipment.

Loading & Unloading

Students will learn the correct method of securing a trailer before entry

and safe procedures for loading and unloading trailers.

Load Handling

Students will learn about the load limitations of power equipment, how to

safely pick up, transport and store a load, correct methods to secure a

load for travel, how to stack and de-stack pallets.

Company Specific Procedures & Practices

This will be a discussion about emergency procedures that must be

followed in the event that there is an emergency  in the work place. 

Procedures that must be followed if an accident occurs

Training Objectives

At the end of the training the students will be able to safely operate power equipment in the workplace and meet all company and government standards.

Class Specifications

Class sizes range from a minimum of 4 students up to 12 students maximum.  Class duration will be determined by the type of equipment being trained (e.g. forklift and reach truck is 4 to 5 hours for the theory and test and the practical duration is directly related to the students experience).  Classes can be scheduled for weekdays, weekends or evenings to accomodate your needs.
